Lucknut's Guillotine Cross Build Ragnarok Online



Introduction


    Hello everyone meet me Lucknut, it was a long time i never update my opinion for a guillotine cross. Well, i've played guillotine cross for a few years already, maybe i can share a bit of my experience.

About Guillotine Cross [ GX ]


    A Guillotine Cross is the third job class of an Assassin / Assasin Cross. To attack enemies, they still wield two separate weapons ( from Daggers to One Handed Swords ) or Katars, but they gain access to new and improved ways of assassination. They can also gain access to new poisons, which other character class have no known cures for them.

    A Guillotine Cross name is often shortened and abbreviated as "GX", where the "X" is like a cross.

  • Double Attack can be critical hits.
  • Adds up to 21% damage to your left (off-hand) damage with katars.

  • Does a single attack with up to +150 ATK and a 50% chance to poison the target.
  • This is required for later poison related skills.

  • Cures the Poison status on a single target.
  • Cures one Fester stack in Monster Hunter 2.

  • This is one of the most useful skills we have access to, commonly used to cover long distances fast, evade Area of Effect (AoE), and luring monsters.

  • Deals up to 1400% long ranged damage to a single target.
  • Can apply critical hits, but Critical Rate is halved (You will need 210+ Critical Rate)
  • Gains damage from STR, INT, and base level.
  • Has 2 seconds of Cast Delay.
  • Has 0.15s Cooldown.

  • Deals up to 1400% ATK in an AoE around you.
  • Damage is increased based on STR, Base Level, and ATK.
  • Enchant Deadly Poison does not scale with this skill.
  • This is the best area of effect leveling skill before your 2036.png Rolling Cutter is strong enough.

  • Allows movement while hiding.
  • Increased movement when next to walls.
  • Required for Guillotine Cross hiding skills.
1004.png Venom Knife
  • Throws a  Venom Knife at a target dealing a small amount of damage, and has a chance to poison the target.
  • Good skill for luring non-aggressive mobs.
407.png Create Deadly Poison
  • Allows you to create  Poison Bottle.
  • This is one of the most important skills for GX to have.
  • The formula for crafting is;
    • [Success Rate = 20% + (0.4% * Dex) + (0.2% * Luk)].
    • Setting your DEX and LUK to 130 each will give you 98% chance crafting rate. You can find some basic gear that will give DEX or LUK to help get the remaining 2%.
378.png Enchant Deadly Poison
  • This enchants your weapon with  Poison Bottle.
  • Grants a huge bonus to damage, multiplies your Weapon ATK by x4, and your Equipment ATK by x3.
  • Small chance to apply "Deadly Poison" to non-boss monsters, which drains their HP until they die.
  • This skill is what makes GX do super high DPS.

  • You spin around dealing up to 450% ATK in a 7x7 Area of Effect.
  • This skill can be spammed by holding down the hotkey button.
  • Gets stronger with higher Base Level.
  • Every spin gives you 1 "spin counter", up to a maximum of 10.
  • Moving in any way will remove all spin counters, including teleporting.
  • Highly spammable with 35% after cast delay, and 187 ASPD. (Going above these numbers does not increase the spam rate)
2037.png Cross Ripper Slasher
  • You must have "spin counters" to use this skill.
  • Deals up to 400% damage to a single target, you can continuously spam this for 5 seconds. (As long as the spin counter lasts)
  • Up to 13 cells range.
  • Increased damage based on amount of spin counters, and AGI.
  • Has 0.3 seconds of Cooldown.
  • Has 0.5 seconds of Cast Delay.
2022.png Cross Impact
  • Attacks a target with 7 strikes, dealing up to 1750% damage.
  • Has 7 cell range. (This still counts as a melee attack, but you will be moved beside the target).
  • You can "dance" to bypass some of the animation of this skill. (With the new Beta client, dancing is no longer required. This skill has no animation on new clients).
  • Can apply critical hits, but Critical Rate it halved (You will need 210+ Critical Rate).
  • Has 0.7 seconds of Cooldown.
2033.png Cloaking Exceed
  • Makes you invisible to all but Boss monsters.
  • Increases you movement speed by up to 140%.
  • Useful for quickly running through maps undetected.
5001.png Dark Claw
  • Does a single attack with up to 500% ATK.
  • Leaves target receiving up to 150% more melee physical damage for 10 seconds.
  • Removes and prevents melee reflect skills for the skill duration.
  • Very nice for adding lots of extra damage onto some mobs and MvPs.
2035.png Hallucination Walk
  • Adds up to a +250 Flee for skill duration.
  • Adds up to a 50% chance to dodge magical attacks for skill duration.
  • Adds a cool trail of yourself as you walk.
  • After skill ends you will have -50% ASPD and movement speed for 25 seconds.
  • 5 minute Cooldown.
2028.png Weapon Blocking
  • Gives you up to a 20% chance to block physical attacks.
  • Whenever you successfully block an attack, you will enter a "counter state" in which you can spam 2029.png Counter Slash.
  • Can slow you down from casting skills or attacking unless you have high After Cast Delay.

  • Must be in "counter state" to use this skill.
  • Deals up to 1800% damage in a 5x5 Area of Effect.
  • Damage increases based on Base Level, Job Level, and AGI.
  • Highly Spammable with 93% after cast delay, and 187 ASPD.
  • Applies knockback effect on normal mobs.
  • Pierces 100% of monsters defense, including Boss monsters.

  • Reduces a target's Poison resistance by up to 50%.
2024.png Research New Poison
  • Unlocks the "New-Poisons".
  • Gives you up to +180 seconds duration on New-Poisons and  Poison Bottle
2027.png Poisoning Weapon
  • Enchants your weapon with New-Poisons.
  • Gives your attacks a 20% chance to inflict the poison effect onto monsters. (Doesn't apply through skill attacks).
2031.png Venom Pressure
  • Does a single attack with up to a 95% chance to inflict the New-Poison onto the target, also gives +30 Hit for the attack.
  • Once used the poison is removed from your weapon.
2025.png Create New Poison
  • Allows you to create New-Poisons.
  • There is a table that describes how to make and possibly use each poison.

New Poison


    New Poisons are very useful tools for the GX class. They give a negative effect when applied to an enemy, and a positive effect when used on yourself.

All New Poisons will give you a 5% increase in Melee damage when applied.

All of these poisons last for 5 minutes or 300 seconds each, you can use both, Edp.png Enchant Deadly Poison with 2027.png Poisoning Weapon at the same time, but New Poisons is different like Enchant Deadly Poisons, those effect ( New Poisons ) would gone if you are died before the time up.

Useful for potentially slowing down people in PvP enviroments, especially on tanky enemies.

The best poison for critical builds, this is what you will be using most of the time. "Normal Damage" refers to autoattack damage only, not general damage.

Can be used on a tank or high HP enemy to slow their healing making it easier to kill them. Stacks with Critical Wounds.


Negative Effects

  • -20% Healing Effectiveness (This affects potions as well).
A nice potion to recover health on solo instances, just find a safe area and heal to full health when you need it.


Positive Effects

  • Recovers 1% Max HP every second

Good for killing targets slowly, does not work on MvPs.

  • Consumes a small amount of Max HP every second
In my opinion, the worst potion, we have 100 Vit for stun immunity anyways, and blind is easily removed with a green potion.

A very nice poison against pesky reflect mobs, and in PvP where there is a lot of reflect.


Positive Effects

  • -30% damage taken from melee reflect.

Can be used to interupt a targets tasks and skills, making it harder for them to move and fight.


Negative Effects

  • Forces target to spam /heh emote.
  • Forces target to randomly cast skills.
  • Drains 3% of Max HP every 4 seconds.
Another really strong poison, this can really help Cross Ripper Slash, Counter Slash, and Soul Breaker builds reach high After Cast Delay.


Positive Effects

  • -10% After Cast Delay
 Toxin 1 Medicine Bowl

 10 Sticky Poison
 1 Poison Herb Nerium
Good on classes that cast a lot of skills to try and interrupt them. This can "apparently" stop uninterruptible casting.


Negative Effects

  • Inflicts damage causing target to flinch every 10 seconds.
Similar to Death Hurt, but this recovers SP. Really nice when you farming in a field or dungeon and need lots of SP.


Positive Effects

  • Recovers 1% Max SP every second.

Good on classes that cast dangerous skills to prevent them from killing you. (If they get oblivion status, sadly it's like a 5% chance on high INT characters).


Negative Effects

  • Forces target to use /? emote.
  • Blocks targets SP recovery.
  • Has a small chance to apply "Oblivion Curse" (Silence that can't be removed by most Silence cures).
Decent poison that can help again bosses that spam Silence and Curse statuses.


Positive Effects

  • Grants immunity to Curse status
  • Grants immunity to Silence status

Guillotine Cross Build


    Well, some of you maybe still new with Guillotine Cross ( GX ) or maybe have been experience on this. I will just made it simple to talk about some of the GX Build. GX have some build that we can play on, like 2036.png Rolling Cutter Skill type, 2037.png Slasher Cross Ripper Slash Skill type, 379.png Soul Destroy Skill type, 2022.png Cross Impact Skill type, or just combine some of them for being Hybrid type.


First, 2036.png Rolling Cutter type is the best build for starting to play GX, with low budget gear and right composition you can doing some solo instances. If u are wondering what kind of those low budget gears i will share it later. This type can still work for being midle till end game too, with right combination gear the2037.png Slasher Cross Ripper Slash would be so painfull, but not much people playing this type on end game.


What we need to playing this type ( ? )


Try to get around 187 ASPD and 35% After Cast Delay, and then just focus on Hits and Damage after. This type is about physical melee damage on Rolling Cutter and long range damage on Cross Ripper Slash.


Second, 379.png Soul Destroy type is a long range skills, so for you guys that love doing long range DPS, you can go on it. Im not suggest it on early game, becouse this build need some gears to calculating the spam.


What we need to playing this type ( ? )


Soul Breaker has 2 seconds of Cast Delay, so you will need very high After Cast Delay to spam it fast (Around 93%, but you can use less to still deal strong damage). It also has 0.25 seconds of Fixed Cast Time and 0.25 seconds of Variable Cast Time. This skill now apply critical hits, but the Critical Rate is halved. You will need around 210-220 Critical Rate to consistently get critical hits on most enemies.


  • Inside Monster Hunter 2, Soul Destroyer can no longer land critical hits. So you can focus more on damage and After Cast Delay.


Third, 2022.png Cross Impact type is the most popular build for playing GX, even with a low gear still can deal some hype damage with the right composision. This build is pretend to being MVP killer's.


What we need to playing this type ( ? )


Just like Soul Destroy Skill, this skill it can now apply critical hits, so you will need around 210-220 Critical Rate to consistently get critical hits on most enemies. Then we just need to focus on Melee Damage and Critical Damage.


And the last is Hybrid type, Hybrid type is mean you combine some build into 1 combination build. This build would need some experiment to find the better combination for both type, some of people would do like Rolling Cutter with Cross Impact or just Cross Impact with Soul Destroy.


So why people doing hybrid type ( ? )


Well, with doing Hybrid type you doesnt need to worried about Reflect or Mobs. You can just do it solo wherever you want to go with this build, but yea this build kinda costy.



Okee .. Now you guys know about those type of build, so you can decided which type you will play with.

 Str Soutane [1]ArmorOdin's Temple 4This is the strongest armor for damage purposes, but only if you have a  Str Blessing enchanted on it.

That means you need to get a minimum +9 of this armor, otherwise go for  illusion Armor A-Type [1] as it's cheaper and easier to obtain.


The reason this armor is so strong is that the  Str Blessing adds 12% damage to All Races! That is a damage modifier that you do not find often, so it multiplies really well with the more common modifiers such as ATK%, and Size%.


You can also get 2 Critical Rate enchants on the other slots, anywhere from 10 to 20 total Critical Rate.

ALL of the enchants can be rerolled one by one (at a cost of course), so you can continue working on your enchants over time.


 Str Blessing effects

  • +10 STR.
  • +10% ATK.
  • +25 Def, +3 Mdef.
  • When enchanted on a  Str Soutane [1], +5% ATK and +12% Damage to all race enemies.

  • +10% Max SP.
  • +10% ASPD.
  • For every 2 refines, +3% ATK.
  • For every 3 refines, +5 STR.
  • For every 4 refines, +8% physical damage against Angel and Demon race monsters.

Needs to be at +9 to get the most effect out of the enchants.

Warning: once you put an enchantment on, it can NOT be taken off

This is the same setup as the Rolling Cutter build armor, so it can be shared between the two builds easily.

  • When equipped with Automatic Engine wing A-type, Atk + 50.
  • When equipped with Automatic Engine wing B-type, reduces delay after skill by 10%.

But it is only second highest in overall DPS, since  Agudo Filo [2] can reach a possible 15 second cooldown on 5001.png Dark Claw making it stronger over long term fights such as in Monster Hunter 2.

Bolt Crusher is also very expensive, it is best used in Cross Impact / Rolling Cutter hybrid builds.

 Juliette D Rachel [2]Sky FortressThis is the best choice of weapon for this build, being the most efficient at just about everything. It lacks a little behind the dual wielding damage, but not by much. Considering you can one shot basically any mob when fully geared up with a Juliette D Rachel. You want +10 refine on this for the Eremes card effect, but for budget reasons, you can get away with a +7/+8.

Since this is a katar weapon, it has double Critical Rate. Which makes this the easiest option for achieving 100% Critical hits with Cross Impact.

Can be enchanted here. Aim for Sharp enchants, or fighting spirit if you have enough Critical Rate already.
